Offbeat has a comprehensive set of sails mostly from Norths to cover our planned cruising.
The rig consists of a carbon fibre mast and compression beam/bowsprit made by Axxon Composites in Romania together with an aluminium boom and crossbeam made by Marechal Masts in France. The standing rigging is made of composite fibres (very light and strong compared with conventional stainless steel wire rigging).
Our upwind sails consist of a fully battened Mainsail (110m2) and both a genoa and self tacking staysail all built using North 3Di Ocean sailcloth. The carbon fibre compression beam allows us to have both the genoa and staysail permanently rigged which makes reducing headsail sail areas very simple. We can simply furl the genoa and switch to the staysail in seconds and have 2 well cut sails (roller reefing usually results in poor sail shapes).

Our downwind sails consist of a Parasailor for tradewind sailing downwind in less than 20 knots, a North Sails Code 65 reaching sail on a furler for reaching and stronger winds on a broad reach and finally a North Sails S4 symmetric spinnaker in a heavy sailcloth for stronger winds up to 30kts TWS on a run.
